Principal
Lester Salter, the founding member of the Firm, is
a former trial attorney in the Office of Chief Counsel,
Internal Revenue Service. Initially, his practice consisted
almost exclusively of representing taxpayers in controversies
with the IRS, both civil and criminal, and in trials
and appeals. More recently his practice has included
business and estate tax planning and probate administration
work, including will and trust drafting, as well as
continuing to represent clients in disputes with the
IRS and Rhode Island Division of Taxation.
Mr. Salter has been and remains active in state and
national bar associations and related activities. He
served as President of the Rhode Island Bar Association,
has been a member of the Rhode Island Bar Association's
House of Delegates for more than 25 years, has been
on its executive committee for 15 years, and has been
a member of the American Bar Association House of Delegates,
including serving on its Board of Governors for 2 years.
He was honored by the Rhode Island Bar Association with
its award of merit in 1978 and was the first recipient
of its Ralph P. Semonoff Award for Professionalism in
1996. He has also served on numerous Boards of the Rhode
Island Supreme Court and has chaired and spoken at numerous
seminars on taxation and estate administration.
Mr. Salter did his undergraduate work at the Wharton
School of the University of Pennsylvania and later graduated
from its Law School.
